We have the pleasure of welcoming Caradoc Jones at ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ to give a public lecture as part of the ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ Science Festival.
From being the first South Georgia Harbourmaster after the Falklands War to the first Welshman to summit Everest. A mixture of marine science and mountaineering that began at ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ and continues a long and winding road from which he tries to make some sense about what lies ahead.
Caradoc ‘Crag’ Jones was the first Welshman to reach the summit of Everest in May 1995 at the age of 33. He graduated with a BSc Marine Biology & Oceanography degree from ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ in 1982. Following his successful climb, he gained popularity by hosting television programmes for young climbers and supporting Welsh climbing and walking groups. Currently working as a fisheries consultant, Crag continues to pursue climbing and expeditioning and has also taken up downhill mountain bike racing.
This lecture will be given in English.
Refreshments will be available after the lecture.
